Crafting + Sustaining Delight Through Human-Centered Design

I am an artist, designer, and educator whose career spans Silicon Valley tech, contemporary art, museum exhibition design, and most recently, design for dementia care. I came into design in the early days of digital media—working in computer labs before the Web was public—at the intersection of technology and art.

From there, I moved into contemporary art and museums, where I created participatory and multisensory installations that invited visitors to connect with ideas and with each other. These projects gave me the tools I continue to use today: prototyping, iteration, and designing for delight and engagement.

My career underwent a fundamental shift when I began applying those same tools in dementia care. In cultural institutions, they helped visitors participate and make meaning. In memory care, they help residents, families, and staff find moments of connection and joy, while also giving care teams practical ways to improve outcomes.

Today, my work integrates design, cognitive science, technology, and clinical practice to support individuals and caregivers across diverse demographics and settings. I focus on developing inclusive, evidence-based interactions at an institutional scale, applying research and rigorous testing to improve well-being. I also explore how emerging technologies—such as low-impact sensors and AI—can refine care and enrichment strategies throughout different stages of cognitive progression.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Studio Art from the University of Colorado and a Master’s in Design from Stanford University.
